Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory that has been converted into a private house. It consists of a 16th-century and 17th-century block that has undergone extensive alterations and modernization. The late 17th-century porch has also been modernized. There is an early 18th-century south-west wing, and the building features rubble-stone walls and a slate roof with stone gable copings. The stacks on the left and right-hand gables were rebuilt in the 20th century, while there is a coupled front eaves stack from the 19th century. A flat tablet with a raised label above dates from the 20th century.
The building is two storeys high and has five windows, including one three-light stone mullion window with 4-centred heads and one four-light stone mullion window with straight shanks and bowtells, both from the 16th century. The remaining windows are cross-transomed stone-mullioned windows that replaced early 19th-century sashes, and they have labels above them. There is a canted bay window on the left side of the ground floor. The large two-storey porch features pointed segmental arches on three sides and has 20th-century pyramid-stopped jambs. The front door is round-headed and made of plank-and-muntin, also from the 20th century.
To the north-west, there is a Victorian wing that is two storeys high and has approximately four windows; it has been converted into a garage and stable, with cellars underneath.
