Description

No. 11 South Street is a house, likely built around 1838 and possibly designed by James Wilson of Bath, the same architect who designed the nearby Wesleyan Methodist Chapel. It's situated symmetrically with No. 9 across the Chapel forecourt. The building is rendered in stucco and has a hipped slate roof. It is three storeys high. The elevation facing the Chapel forecourt features three ranges of sash windows, some of which are blind. These windows have moulded cornices supported by consoles. A panelled door is set within a central porch, which has a moulded architrave and Ionic columns in antis. There is one range of sash windows facing South Street.

Nos. 3 to 9 (odd), which comprise the Bridport Arts Centre annexe, and Nos. 11 to 17 (odd) along with 17B and 17A form a group with the Greyhound Hotel on East Street.
