Description

Ruddock’s Farmhouse is a house likely dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a tiled roof and brick stacks at each end. The house has two storeys and an irregular arrangement of windows. These include 2-light and 3-light casements, some with glazing bars and some with leaded-lights set within wrought iron frames, some retaining original glass. The windows are all topped by wooden lintels. A 19th-century porch fronts the house, and features a part-glazed flush panelled door. Internally, the house retains chamfered beams with ogee stops; a blocked open fireplace; plank and muntin partitions on the upper floor; and a collar-truss roof, made up of timbers from an earlier house, including a pair of jointed cruck blades.
