Description

No 57, which includes a lower building to the south, and No 59 on Salisbury Street are two connected structures with historical significance. The southern part, now referred to as the lower structure of No 57, is a two-storey building with a painted brick front. It features a double-hung window above and a 19th-century shop window of similar width directly below, with a passageway to the left.

The northern part of No 57 and all of No 59 have painted brick fronts dating from the early to mid-18th century, although they have undergone significant alterations. Both buildings are two storeys tall with attics. The northern part of No 57 retains two original sash windows that have wide glazing bars, triple keystones, and aprons. It also features a late Georgian door hood and a bowed shop window. No 59 is distinguished by a diagonal brick dentil cornice and hipped dormers on two levels of the roof. It has two windows and one blocked window, with a 19th-century shop window and doorway on the ground floor to the left, and a large modern plate-glass shop front to the right.
