Description
A row of four cottages dates from the 18th century, although they have undergone extensive restoration in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed of rubble stone with a thatched roof featuring block ridging. A gable is at the east end, and the ridge continues into No. 25A to the west. Four 20th-century brick stacks are visible on the ridge, positioned at the party walls between the cottages. The cottages are two storeys high and have eight windows in total. The windows are rebuilt 2-light wooden casements with glazing bars, except that Nos. 25 and 26 have 3-light wooden casements with glazing bars and stone voussoirs to the ground floor. Each cottage has one ground floor window, with the exception of No. 28, which has two. The 20th-century plank front doors, each with one glass light, are located to the left of centre for Nos. 25 and 26, and to the right of centre for Nos. 27 and 28. The group value of these cottages lies in their contribution to the architectural character of the Abbotsbury area.
