Description

The building known as the Kennels, located about 15 metres north of Carnanton House, is likely from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with granite dressings and features tripped slate roofs.

The plan consists of a pair of small single-storey buildings that are square in shape. The building on the right is heated by a stack located on its right side. The walls at the sides and rear enclose a small yard, and there is a single-storey lean-to along the inner right wall of the original building, with later sheds attached to the left and rear.

The exterior is symmetrical, with each single-storey building featuring a blind window at the front, which has a cambered granite arch and keystone. There are pintles remaining for a gate between the two buildings. On the outer left side of the building on the left, there is a window. Inside the yard, the kennel on the right has a window with a cambered arch, while the kennel on the left has had its window position altered, with the head raised. There are 20th-century sheds along the left side and rear, and to the right, there is a single-storey lean-to made of rubble with a blocked door and a plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
