Description

MAWGAN-IN-PYDAR SW 86 SE 6/61 Kennels about 15 metres north of Carnanton House 25.8.87 GV II

Kennels. Probably late C18 - early C19, with later alterations. Slatestone rubble with granite dressings. Tripped slate roofs. Plan: Pair of small single storey buildings of square plan, the one to right heated from a stack at the right side. Walls to sides and rear enclose a small yard. There is a single storey lean-to along the inner right wall, of the original building; later sheds attached to left and rear. Exterior: The front is symmetrical; each single storey building has a blind window at the front with cambered granite arch and keystone. Pintles remaining for a gate between the 2 buildings. The outer left side of the kennel to left has a window. Inside the yard, the kennel to right has window with cambered arch; the kennel to left has had the position of the window altered, with the head raised. C20 sheds along the left side and the rear. To right is a single storey lean-to in rubble with blocked door and plank door. Interior: Not inspected.
