Description
The gate piers, railings, and gates at the main east entrance to Carnanton House date from the early 18th century and were re-sited in the 20th century. They are constructed from granite ashlar and feature cast iron railings and gates from the 20th century. The central pair of large square plan rusticated piers stand on moulded plinths and are topped with a cornice and urn, reaching a height of about 3 metres. There is a short section of very low wall with stone coping on either side, accompanied by plain spear-headed railings. The terminal piers, also with urns, are about 2 metres high. The central pair of cast iron gates have spear-headed rails.
