Description
Middle Lodge is a lodge for Carnanton House, located in Mawgan-in-Pydar parish. It was built in the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations and additions in the 20th century. The structure is made of stone rubble, with some parts rendered, and features a hipped asbestos slate roof. There is a stack on the left side with a rendered shaft.
The lodge is a single-storey building set on a plinth. The front left section is canted and has three sides. It features a central door with eight fielded panels and an overlight, flanked by 12-pane sashes, which are characteristic of the early 19th century. To the right side, there is a one-room plan wing that also has a 12-pane sash with voussoirs and a keystone on the front. The left side of the main range includes a central stack, a blind window to the right, and another 12-pane sash to the left. The service wing on the left has coping, a single light, and a small terminal pavilion with a hipped roof and a two-light, two-pane casement. The interior has not been inspected.
