Description
Tresidder Mill and Millhouse is a miller's house with an integral mill, dating from the 18th century on an ancient site, and extended around the early 19th century. The building is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and has scantle slate roofs with gable ends. It has a rectangular plan featuring a two-room layout for the miller's house, with the living room on the left and the mill on the right. The mill has an overshot wheel at the right-hand end, which is still in working order.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a three-window front that includes the miller's house and the mill on the right. The house has a central doorway, while the mill doorway is accessed by a short flight of stone steps on the right. Above the mill doorway, there is a gabled dormer that was originally a loading doorway with a hoist. The building features 20th-century doors and windows. The iron wheel at the right-hand end has wooden spokes and buckets.
Inside the mill, the original ground floor machinery from the 19th century is still in working order and is now used for generating electricity. The house contains a large granite fireplace at the left-hand end, and there is an old roof structure that may date back to the 18th century.
