Description

A terrace of three houses located on Lemon Hill, Mylor Bridge, dating from the early to mid 19th century. The houses are built with painted brick walls in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring shallow brick arches and slate sills. They have hipped, dry Delabole slate roofs and brick chimneys over the party walls and the left-hand side wall. The layout is based on a long, rectangular, single-depth plan. Two of the houses are similar but mirror images, with kitchen/living rooms and parlours on either side of a cross passage that leads to the stairwell. The third house is smaller, with a passage leading to the staircase on the left.

The east-facing road front is a regular five-window arrangement. The two left-hand houses have nearly symmetrical two-window fronts with centrally placed doorways. The house on the right has a one-window front with a doorway on the left. The original windows are 16-pane hornless sashes. The original wooden doorcases feature plain pilasters and consoles supporting an entablature. Number 11 (the left-hand house) has a four-panel door with a later top glazing, Number 12 has an early 20th century top-glazed panelled door with overlight, and Number 13 has a 20th century top-glazed door. The interiors remain uninspected. These houses represent a modest architectural contribution, are largely unaltered, and enhance the streetscape at Mylor Bridge.
