Description
This chest tomb, located about 15 meters south of the Church of Saint Wenappa, dates from the early 19th century and is dedicated to the Alford family. It features granite ashlar sides and a slate lid set within a granite border. The tomb is rectangular in shape and oriented roughly from west to east. The projecting lid has a cavetto and bullnose border. The slate slab includes incised lettering with inscriptions for John Alford, who died in 1828 at the age of 72; Elizabeth, the wife of John Alford, who died in 1811 at the age of 72; and Elizabeth Bawden along with Richard Harvey Bawden, who died in 1879 at the age of 79.
