Description

The Alden chest tomb is located in the churchyard about 12 metres north of the north porch of the Church of St. Mary. This chest tomb dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone. It features a shallow hipped top with a moulded edge and plain quarter balusters. There are inscription panels on all sides, and a putto is depicted in the central spandrel on the south side. The tomb commemorates Samuel Alden, who died in 1815, along with other family members.
