Description

This is a chest tomb located about 27 meters north of the middle of the Church of Saint Wenappa in Gwennap. It dates from the early 19th century and features granite ashlar walls with a freestone lid. The tomb is rectangular in shape and oriented from west to east. The lid has a cavetto and torus moulding along the border and includes an incised inscription commemorating Agnes, the daughter of Collan and Agnes Bawden, who died in 1811 at the age of 4, as well as Collan Bawden, who died in 1816 at the age of 48. There are also two other names on the tomb that are indecipherable, but their dates are noted as 1807 and 1841.
