Description

GWENNAP CHURCHTOWN, Gwennap SW 74 SW 4/115 Chest tomb 2m north of north - west corner of Church of St Wenappa GV II Chest tomb. Probably C18. For Harris family by D Pearce of Truro. Granite ashlar sides and slate lid. Rectangular on plan, orientated west to east. Lid has recessed panel for first phase of inscriptions. All with incised Roman lettering to: John Harris, Gent, baptized 1652, married Alice Pelloe 1677, died 1705; John Harris, his son, baptized 1678, married Elizabeth Beauchamp 1703, died 1731; Henry Harris (son), baptized 1730, married Agatha, daughter of Robert and Alice Vivian of Rosewarne, died 1778, and later inscriptions.
