Description
Church House is a detached vestry located at the north-west corner of Mawgan-in-Meneage, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of shale rubble, featuring dressed granite quoins and lintels. It has a half-hipped roof made of grouted scantle slate, with a brick chimney on the left side wall. The structure has a rectangular one-room plan and is a single storey over a basement. The symmetrical south front has two windows and a wide doorway in the middle of the basement, with two windows on either side above. The windows are original 16-pane hornless sashes, and there is a ledged door. A doorway is also present at the rear right. At the north-west corner, granite segmental-headed gate piers flank the gateway, which features original wrought ironwork with a looped top rail and round-arched bracing between the bottom rail and lock rail. Church House is a simple but unaltered building and is part of a group of structures near the church.
