Description
Glebe House is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. The original part features a stucco front, while the rest is constructed from shale rubble with dressed granite sills, quoins, and lintels. The roof is covered with asbestos slate, and there are brick chimneys over the gable end of the original part, as well as a hipped scantle slate roof on the taller left wing and a single-storey wing on the right.
The layout originally included two reception rooms on either side of a passage leading to shallow rear service rooms within an outshut. The house was extended in the mid-19th century with a taller two-storey wing on the left, which has a roof at right angles to the main roof and extends to the same depth as the outshut. There is also a single-storey wing on the right side.
The south front has two storeys with a total of four windows, plus one window from the single-storey wing on the right. The original house has a three-window front that was originally symmetrical with a central doorway, but the left ground floor window was deepened in the 20th century and fitted with French windows. The doorway features similar windows, while the other openings retain their original 16-pane hornless sashes, except for a horned replacement on the first floor left. The mid-19th century wing on the far left has a taller ground floor window, but both windows are original hornless sashes with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected. This house holds an important position near the entrance to the church.
