Description
This is a road bridge over a stream at the head of a creek, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, and possibly widened on the upstream side around the mid-19th century. It is constructed from shale rubble with dressed granite voussoirs forming a round arch, and features hogs-back dressed granite copings on low parapets. The bridge has a single span and likely originally had a slightly humped road surface, with the parapets splaying wider apart at either side. There is a projecting keystone on the downstream side of the arch and a lintelled opening on the upstream side. This bridge is an unspoiled example of a single span structure set in a beautiful wooded environment.
