Description
Church House is a mid-19th century building that underwent improvements later in the 19th century. It features a pebbledashed exterior with raised end quoins and a slate roof adorned with spiked ridge tiles. There is a stack on the eastern gable. The house has three storeys and three bays. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door, with the top panels being glazed, set within a timber corniced portico that has stained glass swags in the top panels on three sides. The ground and first floors have 'T'-shaped paned casement windows with overlights in openings that have cambered heads, and these overlights also feature matching stained glass swags. The top floor has six-paned sash windows. The eaves are boxed, and there is a service door on the left side with a wide plastered surround that extends beyond the quoins.
The front area is enclosed by railings and gates that have a scrolled floral design, reminiscent of a gothic arcade, with stanchions that have knobbed terminals. The building was not accessible at the time of inspection in March 1995.
