Description
Polmenna is a house with a reset arch to the west, likely dating from the 17th century, although the front was remodeled in the mid-19th century. The building features rubblestone with slate hung on the west hipped end and the south front, topped by a slate roof with a gable end on the right and a hipped end on the left. There is a rear projecting wing and a staircase projection, both with gable ends. A rubblestone stack is located on the right-hand gable end, while two rendered brick shafts are found on the rear lateral stacks, which are part of a later outshut. The house probably has a two-room plan with a later rear wing, a stair turret, and a lateral stack included in the later outshut. It is two storeys high and has a regular four-window south front with modern casements. The rear features 19th-century casements with glazing bars in two, three, and four lights. A rubblestone wall extends to the west from the left-hand hipped end. The reset granite arch has a rectangular surround and a three-centred arch with moulded jambs and stops, along with incised spandrels. The arch is topped by two reset granite ball finials. The interior has not been inspected.
