Description

The Tyacke chest tomb, located approximately 10 metres northeast of the Church of Saint Germoe, dates from 1719. It is constructed from granite ashlar and features an inscribed slate insert on the lid. The tomb is rectangular in shape, with a plinth that projects at the front (south) and a square-edged lid that also projects at the front. The border of the lid is secured with iron staples. The tomb bears an incised inscription commemorating Samuel Tyacke, who died on 12th February 1719 at the age of 12.
