Description

Old Manor and Colwills is a pair of houses that were formerly one house, dating from the 17th century and remodelled with restoration work completed in 1983. The building is constructed of rendered slatestone rubble and features a slate roof. The south-facing range is one room deep and has stacks at the gable ends, likely serving as the hall and kitchen, with a projecting wing at the rear, now known as Colwill's, which has a massive gable end stack, forming a T-plan.

The main range is two storeys high and has three windows, with an off-centre enclosed porch that has a gabled slate roof. The ground floor windows are 20th-century sashes with glazing bars and drip ledges. The first floor windows are similar, with the left and centre windows set under raking roofs that project slightly above the eaves line. The projecting rear wing is partly rendered, featuring renewed casement windows and one sash window, all with glazing bars. There is a horizontal sliding sash window on the left side of the first floor of the rear wing, and a small rectangular opening on the east side of the rear wing, which may have originally been a stair light.

Inside, the ground floor of the main range has chamfered ceiling beams, and there is a fireplace at the east gable end that has been reset with a granite lintel and hollow-chamfered jamb. The first floor room on the right also has a fireplace, and the roof features coupled rafters that are halved and face-pegged.
