Description
Tremayna Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries, and 20th-century additions at the rear. It is constructed from rendered slatestone rubble and features a steeply-pitched slate roof laid in diminishing courses, which was originally thatched. The building has a range that is one room deep and consists of two different sections, with stacks located at the gable ends and an axial stack.
To the left of the break in the roofline, the range is roughly symmetrical, with an entrance leading into a stair hall. To the right of the break, the range is likely older and has a cob gable end stack. The front of the farmhouse is two stories high, with three windows on the first floor and four on the ground floor. There is an enclosed entrance porch with a sloping slate roof.
The ground floor window to the left has been renewed with a casement, while a sash window is located to the right of the porch. In the earlier section of the front, there is a two-light casement with glazing bars, and a two-light casement under a longer slate drip ledge on the ground floor to the right. The first-floor windows include two four-light casements under raking roofs that project slightly above the eaves line, and a sash window in the earlier section. The rear of the farmhouse has three 20th-century extensions. Inside, the ground floor room at the right end of the range features roughly-hewn ceiling beams and a slate floor.
