Description

The Rising Sun is an inn, dating to 1764, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is built of rendered material with a slate roof featuring crested ridge tiles and a rendered gable end stack on the left. The inn has a double-depth plan, with a front room on each side of the central entrance.

The building is three storeys high and comprises three bays. The ground floor has a central double door with a flat hood, and sash windows to the right and left, with two panes in the upper sections and plate-glass lower sections. The first and second floors each have a twelve-pane sash window to the right and left, with a central blind window above. The ground floor and first-floor windows have moulded architraves and keystones. The building features plain pilasters, a fascia board below the first-floor window sills, a moulded cill string on the second floor, and a modillion cornice.

The rear of the inn has a round-headed stair light with 20th-century glazing, but it retains a moulded architrave and pendant keystone. The interior of the inn has not been inspected.
