Description

This is a group of three chest tombs located approximately 25 metres north of the Church of St Michael in Helston. The earliest tomb is dated 1829 and commemorates Thomas Trevethan, who died at the age of 84. The second tomb is for Catherine, the wife of Thomas Phillips, who died in 1837 at the age of 27. The third tomb is dedicated to Joseph Roberts, who died in 1830 at the age of 50. Each tomb features dressed granite with moulded monolithic sides and low-pitched pedimented stelae at one end. They are all rectangular in shape and have marble panels with recessed corners inset at the east end. The Trevethan tomb is decorated with scrolled anthemion motifs.
