Description

ST COLUMB MAJOR SW 96 SW 7/180 Farm buildings about 20 metres - south west of Trewan Hall

GV II

Range of farm buildings. Early C19 with C20 alterations and additions. Elvan stone rubble and cob. Granite dressings. Slate roofs. Plan: The front facing east has been treated architecturally, in the same Gothic style as Trewan Hall; there is a screen wall attached at each side. To the rear is a barn and former horse engine shed, converted in C20 and no longer in farm use. Exterior: 2 storeys, the front has a shaped gable with obelisk finials and coping, pointed arched window with brick surround and hood mould and Gothic glazing. The wall is stepped down to right and left with granite merlons. At the right side of the former barn there are 2 single square recesses in the wall and a small external stair to a door. Upper level in cob. To the right the former horse engine shed is attached, now with glazed roof. The wall is continued about 20 metes to south as a screen wall, with slate coping and granite merlons. Interior: Not inspected.
