Bank Barn About 15 Metres North Of Methrose Farmhouse And Medros Farmhouse

This building is a bank barn located about 15 metres north of Methrose Farmhouse and Medros Farmhouse. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and has undergone some later alterations. The structure is made of large blocks of granite rubble, featuring large granite quoins, and has a hipped slate roof with clay ridge tiles.

The barn has a symmetrical front and consists of two storeys. The ground floor includes three doorways with heavy granite lintels, although the central doorway is half blocked. At the upper level, there is a central loading door flanked by smaller loading doors, all with timber lintels, and a row of pigeon holes situated between the loading doors. On the right side, there is a ground floor door and an upper-level loading door. The rear of the barn features an off-centre midstrey to the left, covered by a corrugated iron hood, and a ventilation slit at the lower level to the right, which is concealed by a single-storey rubble addition that has been raised in height in the 20th century and has a corrugated asbestos roof. The rear wall of the barn on the right side has both a wide and a narrow opening.

Inside, the roof consists of six bays supported by principal rafters and scissors trusses instead of collars, dating from the mid-19th century.
