Description

This is a terrace of six houses on High Street, Chacewater, built in the early to mid-19th century. The houses are constructed from rubble stone with windows and doorways featuring cambered brick arches, topped with projecting keystones. The roofs are largely covered with scantle slate (on numbers 16 and 19), and previously asbestos slate, with brick stacks located along party walls and at the left-hand gable end.

The houses have 2-room double-depth plans (numbers 14, and otherwise 1-room double depth). The overall frontage is 13 windows wide. Number 14 has a three-window front to the south, with the central window being blind. Original 16-pane hornless sash windows are present throughout, with an original 6-panel door at the central entrance. Numbers 15 to 19 each have two-window fronts, with doorways to the left or right. Number 15 features a wider ground-floor window with a tripartite sash. Original four-panel doors remain at numbers 17 and 19. The interiors have not been inspected. The terrace is included on the list for its group value.
