Stables and Attached Front Walls

The stables with attached front walls, now used as offices, were built in 1905 and have undergone some alterations in the 20th century. They are constructed from snecked slatestone rubble with granite dressings and quoins, topped with a slate roof featuring ridge tiles and gable ends. The central gable has raised coped verges with scrolled kneelers and a weathervane, while the gable ends and axial positions have rubble chimney stacks.

The stables are arranged in a U-plan, consisting of a central block flanked by lower wings on both sides, which enclose the stable yard. The walls extend from the wings to form a front enclosure with a wide central gateway and a pedestrian gateway to the right. The central block is two stories high and symmetrical, featuring four-pane sash windows on both floors and a central 20th-century plank door with an overlight. A clock with a granite surround is located in the gable, and all windows have granite lintels.

Each single-storey wing has three six-pane sashes, with central plank doors and overlights on the returns, and six-pane sashes on either side. The front gable ends of the wings also have six-pane sashes with breathers above. The front walls stand about 1.5 meters high, topped with chamfered granite coping, and feature a central pair of square granite ashlar piers on plinths with pyramidal caps. There are 20th-century wooden and wrought iron gates, along with a similar single gate to the right.

On the right side, the wing extends to the rear beyond the main range and includes ten similar six-pane sashes and a 20th-century door. The left side has six six-pane sashes. At the rear, the central block has two four-pane sashes on the first floor, while all other windows are 20th-century casements, and there is a single-storey lean-to along the back. The interior has not been inspected.
