Description
The Church of St Michael is a parish church located in Falmouth, built in 1827 by R Crout. It features coursed rubble construction with four-centred arches and inverted relieving arches beneath the sills. The church has a three-bay embattled front with four embattled octagonal turrets and a short corbelled central turret above a taller parapet. The roof is hipped and made of dry Delabole slate.
The church is designed in a simple Commissioners' style with Tudor Gothic elements. Its plan includes a hall church with a straight gallery at the rear southwest end and a narrower entrance porch and stair hall beyond. The original windows are small-paned with traceried heads, with two at the front, three on each side, and smaller ones on the rear wing, except for the central two-light stone ritual window on the east side. The porch has a doorway on its left with original panelled doors. The principal west gable features small embattled corner turrets and a central open bellcote.
Inside, the church is very simple, with an open-well staircase leading to the gallery, which has a panelled front supported by Tuscan columns. The interior fittings are from the 20th century.
