Description
This early 19th-century property in Falmouth originally comprised a suburban villa, now divided into three separate houses at numbers 16, 17, and 18 Stratton Terrace. The construction utilizes stucco over rubble, with a plinth and a U-shaped hipped roof. The roof is covered with original grouted scantle slates on the left-hand side and asbestos slates on the right. Brick stacks are located at the rear.
The building is arranged with a double-depth plan, featuring a symmetrical two-window facade facing the road and a symmetrical three-window facade on the left-hand return. Pilasters adorned with roundels are present, alongside a carved trailing mid-floor band on the left-hand return and a simple string along the front. The original hornless sash windows retain glazing bars, with taller sashes on the ground floor.
A central, original glazed porch with Tuscan columns and an elliptical-arched doorway is situated on the left-hand return. A window was originally located above the entrance, but this has been blocked and replaced with a 20th-century door and overlight within a reduced opening on the front facade. The interior remains uninspected, but is likely to contain features of interest.
