Description

Two early 19th-century houses, number 1 and number 2 Stratton Terrace, form part of a good group of 19th-century villas in Falmouth. The houses are built of painted brick with hipped slate roofs and brick end and axial stacks. They have a double-depth plan and three storeys over a basement, with a four-window front.

The facades feature rusticated quoins, string courses, and an eaves entablature with brackets. Key blocks define the flat arches above the original hornless sash windows, which retain glazing bars; the second-floor windows are shorter sashes. Number 2 has a later canted porch on its left-hand side. Number 1 presents a symmetrical three-window front to its left-hand return, and likely retains original sashes and a central glazed porch with pilasters, moulded brackets, and a petalled fanlight above a pair of doors. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of architectural interest.
