Description
Nos. 7 and 8 Stratton Terrace is a suburban villa, now divided into two houses, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of stucco on rubble, featuring a plinth and a mid-floor enriched band. It has an asbestos slate hipped roof with slightly projecting eaves and a brick end stack on the right. The villa has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range. The original windows are hornless sashes with horizontal panes and margin panes, except for a later two-storey canted bay on the right, which has horned sashes and cornices. The central doorway is elliptical-arched, with a top-glazed four-panel door and panelled reveals, set within a Doric porch that has fluted half-columns. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. This villa is part of a notable group of 19th-century villas.
