Description

Rose Cottage is a small house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted killas rubble with timber lintels, and has an asbestos slate hipped roof and brick end stacks. The building follows a 2-room plan with a central straight-flight staircase. The symmetrical 2-window front has original 16-pane hornless sash windows. The central doorway originally had a 4-panel door, and is now accessed via a 20th-century lean-to porch with a 4-panel door on its right-hand side. The interior retains many original features, including panelled doors, some cupboard doors, the staircase, and simple moulded ceiling joists. The kitchen, on the right, features a wooden fireplace surround, likely for a former late 19th-century range. This is a building of group value.
