ST GERMANS SX 35 NW 4/80 Barn about 10 metres south of Treduan Farmhouse 27.6.77 GV II

Barn, probably originally used as a cider house. Probably late C17 - early C18. Slatestone rubble. Hipped slurried slate roof with ridge tiles, several hand-made crested ridge tiles surviving. Plan: Barn with opposing entrances to front and rear. In the mid C19, an addition was made to the rear left, forming an overall L-plan. Front has midstrey with pitched roof, with single door with timber lintel. Buttress to left and door to right, and row of square pigeon holes with slate cills below the eaves. Ventilation slit to right and left of midstrey. Right end blind. Left end has door with ventilation slit to the loft at upper level. Straight joint to the C19 addition to left, also with slurried slate roof, hipped, with ridge tiles. C19 block has central wide doorway with banded cambered head, narrower doorway to right and left with cambered heads. Loading door off-centre to left. Rear of the main range has opposing central door with C20 lintel. Rear of the C19 addition has external stone stair to upper loading door. Interior: Not inspected.
