Description
Old Thatch is a cottage dating from the 18th century, which has been modernised in the 20th century. It is constructed of pink-washed rubble stone with some cob in the upper walls and features a thatched roof. The building is one and a half storeys tall, with a symmetrical central part and extensions on both the left and right sides. The front has a range of seven windows.
On the ground floor, there are two 2-light 20th-century casement windows on either side of a timber-planked door that is sheltered by a thatched canopy supported by timber posts. Above these openings, there are three 2-light 20th-century casement windows. The left-hand side (southeast) has a 20th-century extension built with the same materials as the main structure, featuring similar windows on both the ground and first floors, and a rounded corner at the gable. The gable end has a large 3-light casement window on the ground floor without glazing bars and a 20th-century casement window on the first floor. To the right, there is a single-storey extension with a slate roof and a 3-light 20-pane casement window. The interior has been altered. The cottage is included for its group value.
