Description

This building is a barn located approximately 50 metres north of Trefrew Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century, with a horse engine house added in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins and features a rag slate roof that has hipped ends, along with canted ends on the engine house at the rear.

The barn has a layout that includes shippons on the ground floor and a threshing floor above. The horse engine house, which was added to the rear, also has canted ends. The ground floor has been partly remodeled to include stables for four horses on the left, with a coach house added as a lean-to on the left side. The first floor consists of a wool room to the left, a central threshing floor, and a granary and hay store to the right.

The exterior of the building is two storeys high. The front elevation features a lean-to outshot on the left, with the ground floor displaying a window and plank doors on the left, a central plank door, and two doors to the right. The first floor has plank double doors with a slate hood in the centre, a row of pigeon holes to the left, and a window to the right. At the rear, the horse engine house has a canted end.
