Description
The borough boundary stone, located to the north of Beech House in Lane End, dates from the 18th century and is made of granite. This rectangular stone has a rounded top and is inscribed with "C B B" to indicate the boundaries of Camelford borough. There are additional boundary stones located 30 meters to the northeast of the sewage works in Camelford, to the west of No. 2 Manor Farm on Victoria Road, and to the north of 24 Roughtor Road in Tregoodwell. The Charter of Camelford was confirmed in 1259, and the borough was created in 1552 to support the government of the Earl of Northumberland, but it was abolished in 1831. Information was provided by Mr. F.C. Smeeth.
