Description
Mill House, located about 1 metre south of New Mills Farmhouse, is a water mill house with origins dating back to the 18th century or earlier. It features whitewashed plastered cob on a stone base, topped with a hipped slate roof. The mill leat was formerly situated on the west side, with the ground floor entrance located on the east side and a first floor entrance on the north side. The building is two storeys tall and has a two-light timber mullioned window from the late 17th to early 18th century on the south side, which includes moulded mullions. Some original planking remains on the first floor. Inside, there are two pegged collar rafter trusses, although the machinery has been removed. There is a 20th-century lean-to on the east front and a smaller 20th-century lean-to to the north, neither of which is included in the listing.
