Description
Mill House Farmhouse and the adjoining mill is a house and water-powered corn mill dating from the 18th century, with a house added in the late 19th century. The mill is constructed of limestone rubble, while the house is made of brick, topped with a tiled roof. On the east side of the mill, there is a window with a segmental head. To the left of this window is a doorway with plain reveals and external stone steps. To the right, at a lower level, is another doorway above the brick culvert of the tailrace. The upper part of the wall has been rebuilt in brick and features a window with a segmental head and a brick chimney. There is also one gabled dormer. The house, located on the right, is built of brick on a stone plinth and has a gabled roof. It includes three casement windows with segmental heads, one of which lights a stair. Within the stone plinth, there is a window with glazing bars and plain reveals. The interior was not accessible during the survey in January 1987, but when it was last listed in 1973, the machinery was largely intact, including a cast iron wheel with elm buckets, as well as timber and cast iron cogs and wheels.
