Description
The Edward chest tomb, located approximately 5 metres north of the west end of the Church of St Maddern, is a Grade II listed structure from the early 19th century. It commemorates Richard Edward, who died in 1812 at the age of 57. The tomb is made of dressed granite and features an incised slate inset on the lid. It has a rectangular plan and is designed as a large chest with plain ashlar sides. The top slopes up to a smaller roll-moulded base, leading to a square-edged lid.
