Description
The Gordon monument is a headstone located in the churchyard about 5 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of St. Germanus. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of slate. The headstone features a pedimental top that is shaped at the sides and has a lined border. It bears a quatrain that reads: "Where Billows Roar Oh Tyrant Death Thou didst deprive me of my Breath And sent me hence to Christ on high Where now thy Dart I do defy." The inscription commemorates James Gordon, who drowned in 1782.
