Description
Woodlands is a rectory that has been divided into a private house and flats, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of stuccoed and rendered stone rubble, topped with a slate roof featuring gable ends. The rendered end and axial stacks have a polygonal plan but are now truncated.
The main structure has an overall U-shaped plan with an entrance porch located to the right of the center. It consists of a three-room layout with a through passage and one-room plan wings extending to the rear on both the right and left sides. A service range, likely added to the left side in the late 19th century, is currently unoccupied and semi-derelict.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a regular arrangement of windows in a 2-3-2 pattern across the main range. It features complete original mullion and transom windows on all elevations. The gable ends of the two-storey ranges on the right and left are set slightly forward. The right of center has a rendered 19th-century porch with moulded four-centred arches and original 19th-century doors. To the far left, there are two mullion and transom windows, along with a plank door, and further windows and a porch in the central range. The right side includes blind pointed window openings and a mullion and transom window. The first floor retains complete original fenestration of mullion and transom windows. The service range to the left is also two storeys high, featuring a regular three-window front with twelve-pane sashes.
The interior has not been inspected but appears to retain original joinery and carpentry details. The property known as Pippins, attached to the far left or northeastern end of the service range, is not included in the designation. Trelinden, which was formerly the Rectory stables, and The Coach House, which are separate buildings, are also not included in the designation.
