Description
The bandstand, dating from the late 19th century or early 20th century, features a granite base and a cast and wrought-iron superstructure topped with a lead-clad canopy. It is octagonal in shape, with a rusticated granite base and an ornate cast-iron balustrade. Slender cast-iron columns support cast-iron spandrels and brackets at the eaves, holding up a hipped canopy that is adorned with an ornate open-work wrought-iron finial and wrought-iron cresting along the eaves. There are iron steps located on the east side. The bandstand is situated in Morrab Gardens, which were established in the grounds of Morrab House after a design competition held by Penzance Corporation in 1889, won by Reginald Upcher of London.
