Description
No. 12 Lower Market Street is a town house with a later shop, built in the early 19th century on a site that dates back to the 17th century. The building has a rendered exterior, replacing the original stucco, and features a dry slate roof. It has a double-depth plan that includes a rear outshut and a stair wing. The structure stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. The windows are 20th-century 16-pane horned sashes. The shopfront, which is a late 19th or 20th-century copy, includes a splayed central doorway with sidelights, slender mullions leading to arched lights, and a 20th-century fascia above the original fascia on the left. The house doorway is located on the right and features a 20th-century top-glazed door with an overlight. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
