Description

The Borough Stone, located to the east of No. 37 on Tavistock Road in Callington, is a Grade II listed structure dating from around the 18th century. This granite post is rectangular in shape with a rounded top. It features upper case serif lettering that reads 'BOROUGH BOUNDS', with two pairs of horizontal lines inscribed above and below the text. Callington was established as a parliamentary borough in 1584 but lost its borough status in 1832. Similar borough stones can be found on Haye Road, Launceston Road, and St Germans Road in Callington.
