6/18 Stable about 20 metres south of 7.1.52 Pennans Farmhouse
GV II
Stable. Early C18, with some later alterations of C20. Red brick in Flemish bond with Pentewan stone dressings. Partly rendered. The roof is partly in slurried scantle slate and partly in corrugated asbestos, with ridge tiles, hipped ends. Plan: The building is an overall U-plan; the central range contains cow house, with loft over. The front left wing is a stable, with loose boxes at ground floor and loft over, including pigeon loft. The front right wing has a coach house at ground floor with loft over. Exterior: 2 storys. Symmetrical front. The main range has the three centre bays slightly advanced, rendered with moulded stone plinth and rusticated stone quoins, moulded string course central doorway with rusticated jambs and voussoirs, plank double doors. Window to right and left with segmental arch. At first floor there is a central oval window and a small window opening to right and left. The wing to front left is 2-storey, also with moulded stone plinth and rusticated quoins with moulded string course. The inner side has a doorway with overlight, to the stable. The front has 2 windows at ground floor, one with flat brick arch and one with segmental arch, one blocked and one boarded. Loading door above. The left side of the wing is in stone rubble and plinth, with 4 rows of square pigeon holes at loft level. The wing to front right is in brick with stone dressings as to left. The front of the wing has a carriage entrance, with elliptical brick arch with rusticated stone jambs; single doorway with timber lintel to right. The right side is rebuilt in C20 concrete block at the rear, there are random door and window openings, with loading door and pigeon holes at the loft level to right. Interior: The stables to left retain loose boxes with wooden partitions.
