Description

Priory House is an early to mid-19th century suburban villa located on the west side of St Thomas Road in Launceston. It is constructed of stucco over rubble, with a rag slate hipped roof featuring projecting eaves and a central gabled dormer with glazed sides. A rendered axial stack is also present.

The building has a square, double-depth plan. The symmetrical garden front is two storeys high with three windows. It retains original twelve-pane hornless sash windows throughout. The facade is characterized by giant incised end pilasters topped with anthemion motifs and a central half-domed niche. The left-hand return has a pilastered porch with a moulded entablature and margin panes.

The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
