Glass Studio, Leys Cottage and Adjoining House

Glass Studio, Leys Cottage, and the adjoining house are a pair of houses and a carpenter's shop built around the early 19th century. The fronts of the houses are made of granite ashlar, while the rest is constructed from painted granite rubble with granite dressings. The rear of the houses features grouted scantle slate, and the front is covered with asbestos slate, with corrugated asbestos over the workshop. There are brick chimneys on the gable ends and over the cross party wall, and the buildings have cast-iron ogee-section gutters.

The layout consists of similar but not identical double-depth plan houses, with the carpenter's shop adjoining on the left side. Each house likely has two rooms at the front, flanking a central entrance hall that leads to a stair hall between two rear service rooms. The plan may have been remodeled in the 20th century.

The exterior is two storeys high, featuring a symmetrical arrangement of two-window fronts for the houses, with central doorways and an irregular front for the carpenter's shop on the left. The houses have 20th-century doors and four-pane sash windows. The carpenter's shop has blind rubble walls on the left and a glazed and weather-boarded front on the right. Most windows have old vertical glazing bars with random panes. The rear retains all its original openings, old doors, and sash windows. The house next to the workshop has three original 12-pane hornless sashes and a tall stair window with patterned glazing. Another stair window dates from the late 19th or early 20th century and features margin panes. The workshop includes both old and original doors and windows. The interior has not been inspected.
