Treassowe Manor Farmhouse And Adjoining Barn

Treassowe Manor Farmhouse and the adjoining barn are a farmhouse and barn complex dating from the 17th and 19th centuries, located on Ludgvan Castle Road. The farmhouse features granite rubble walls and slurried scantle slate roofs with stone gable end stacks, while the barn has a hipped roof. The overall layout is an irregular L-shape. Originally, the farmhouse had a T-shaped three-room plan with a hall and parlour at the front and a buttery with small windows in a small wing at right angles to the rear middle. In the early 19th century, a two-room plan house was constructed at right angles in front of the left-hand room, followed by a taller barn built in front of this on higher ground.

The farmhouse is two storeys high. The original southwest front is partly obscured by the 19th-century house on the left side, which has a doorway near the angle that has been converted from a former 17th-century chamfered window opening. Above this doorway is a window, and to the right is another doorway with a window above it. The left side features late 19th-century or 20th-century four-pane horned sash windows, while the right side has 20th-century windows. The rear of this section has a 12-pane horizontal sliding sash window at the first floor to the right of a large gable-ended pantry.

The 19th-century house has a nearly symmetrical two-window front with a central doorway, above which is a reused 17th-century chamfered lintel. The barn to the left has one ground floor window opening towards the left, which incorporates 17th-century or earlier masonry, and three first-floor window openings. The larger left window was originally a winnowing doorway, while the very small right-hand window serves as a ventilator. The barn's doorway is at the left end with a window above it, and there is another doorway at the rear right with a reused 17th-century chamfered lintel above. Opposite the front winnowing opening is a loading and winnowing doorway. The interiors have not been inspected.
