Description

Manor Farmhouse and attached barn date from the 17th century, with alterations in the 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed squared limestone with sandstone dressings and quoins, and has machine tile and corrugated asbestos roofs. Brick ridge and gable stacks are also present. The south elevation has four irregular bays. An off-centre doorway is sheltered by a 20th-century timber and glazed porch. To the left of the doorway is a 20th-century casement window set under a 17th-century lintel with a hoodmould. A doorway with a plain stone lintel and stable-type doors is situated to the right, followed by a 19th-century sash window under a stone lintel, and two more 19th-century sashes set in 17th-century chamfered jambs and lintels, each with a moulded hoodmould. Above, four 2-light casements are set in recessed and chamfered stone surrounds. A barn is set back to the left and has two doorways, one with stone jambs and lintel. A 17th-century 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, to each floor, is located to the left of the barn. Inside the house, the kitchen features a massive arched stone bressumer over the fireplace.
